Wetworks

The wetworks have finally begun!

Take a look at the following pics...

Selection of Tiles

Selection of tiles took us at least 2 days. We spent some time walking around Soon Bee Huat at Toh Guan. They have so many tiles! That futher compounded the problem - now we have problem deciding what to use.

Ok one thing is clear - we dont want shiny tiles for the living room. We prefer a matt look.

Kitchen

Ok finally decided. We will box up the fridge as it will look neater. Although our designer warn us against that as he feel that it will make the fridge break down faster. In any case, we prefer to box it up as it will make the kitchen looks more seamless and neat.

Also, the oven will go under the hob to save some precious work space.

Kitchen design

Sigh ..we are agonising over our kitchen design.
I wanted the oven and microwave to be installed at eye level, next to the fridge.

Wife prefer under the hob to give more work top space ....

Selection of ID

We invited quotes from 3 IDs, 2 of whem I have some previous experience with.

They are Gordon from Gplan, George from East Pine, and John from Genova Design, who was recommended by a friend.

My first house was renovated by Gordon. We liked his way of working, fast and detailed. He gave us very good advice and since it was for our first home, we had to rely on him quite a bit. We were happy with the workmanship and his after sales services. The only downside I can think of is his price and the folding doors that he supplied.

George renovated our office when we moved in 2006. Did a good job in helping us rush to get the whole place up within a very tight deadline. After sales service is also good initially, but harder to get him as the months goes by. This despite we were willing to pay for some of the requests later on.

John from Genova Design was recommended by a friend. We spoke to him about our plans and he was very patient and detailed in his suggestions. We were quite surprised that he was willing to share so much information even before we sign on any dotted lines. When he quote came back, it was quite reasonable and after some negotiation (more like haggling actually) we decided to engage him.

Since its the first time using him we hope that everything will turn out fine. We will keep an eye on the progress though...

Collect Keys!

Wow, finally after about 9 months of searching we finally collected the keys to our resale unit in Jurong. Thankfully we manage to get it without any COV but the condition of the flat is horrible.

Looks like we are going to hack everything away. Sounds excitng..
